当Kir和Tobi在1998年去伦敦寻找一个唱盘刮碟手（turntablist）时，终于确定了以哥本哈根（Copenhagen）为基础的“Blue Foundation”的6位主要乐队成员名单：
阴郁迷离的氛围，收缩自如的刮碟技巧，一吹即散的低吟美声，时躁时缓的颓靡饶舌，这正是Blue Foundation的魅力所在，一队融合各种不同音乐影响的跨国组合。九零年代尾声，爱好音乐的丹麦青年Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjaerg和Tobias Wilner来到伦敦，他们白天流连在二手唱片市场，晚上则穿梭在当地夜店的五光十色之下，由于长年来对日本文化和音乐的向往，间接促成他们与日本籍DJ Tatsuki以乐会友的机缘。Tatsuki Oshima长年旅居伦敦，并常驻当地夜店放歌。DJ Tatsuki对嘻哈节奏的掌握和优异的DJ技巧，让Kirstine和Tobias深深折服，他们一同看见Blue Foundation这个跨国组合的基本雏型。回到哥本哈根后他们邀请以英文创作的MC Jabber和小号吹奏手Bo Rande加入，Blue Foundation正式宣告成立，也确立其融合异国文化和丰富音乐根源的创作风格。
虽然Go Beat! 公司早已有意出版他们的唱片，但最终他们还是把第一张专辑的出版权交给了Voices of Wonder公司旗下April这个厂牌，并在2000年8月率先推出《wiseguy/hollywood》EP之后，终于在2001年年初时正式发行出版了乐队同名大碟《Blue Foundation》。
